The National Women’s Soccer League and Utah Royals FC announced the 11 players named to the August Best XI of the Month on September 4, 2026. Presented by Amazon Prime, the selection was made by the NWSL Media Association and broadcast talent.
Mina Tanaka of the Utah Royals made the Best XI for the first time in 2026, having scored three times in August, including the team's second ever brace against San Diego Wave. Ashley Sanchez was named Player of the Month after scoring five goals and recording two assists in seven matches.
Other players selected for the August Best XI include:
Goalkeeper: Ann-Katrin Berger (GFC), who recorded two clean sheets and 12 saves in four matches.
Defenders: Janine Sonis (DEN), Tierna Davidson (GFC), Sarah Gorden (LA), and Lauren Milliet (LOU).
Midfielders: Croix Bethune (KC), Mina Tanaka (UTA), and Kat Rader (HOU).
Forwards: Ashley Sanchez (NC), Evelyn Ijeh (NC), and Emma Sears (LOU).
Following their match against Boston Legacy, the Royals are scheduled to play the Dash in Houston on Saturday, Sept. 12, with kickoff at 6:45 p.m. MT. The team will return home to host Angel City FC on Sunday, Sept. 20, at America First Field at 5:00 p.m. MT.
