Grand Kyiv Ballet is scheduled to perform Swan Lake: Symphony of Lights at The Covey Main Stage on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The production aims to pair classical ballet tradition with cutting-edge lighting technology and illuminated costumes.
The production features costumes created in Ukraine that incorporate American electronics to produce onstage illumination. Yaroslav Volkov, a representative for Artistic Space Production and Grand Kyiv Ballet, stated that the company seeks to push ballet forward through visual evolution while maintaining the original choreography, technique, and soul of the piece.
Lighting cues are designed to be coordinated with the dancers and costumes to highlight the technology at specific moments. Volkov noted that the reimagined lake and new lighting design are intended to offer a fresh experience even for those familiar with the classic work.
The performance features an internationally trained cast including Mykola Khoma and Chihiro Tamai. Khoma trained at the Serge Lifar Kyiv Municipal Academy of Dance and the Theater of San Carlo Ballet School in Naples, while Tamai is a graduate of the European School of Ballet and Canada's National Ballet School.
Tickets for the event range from $28 to $58.
The performance will take place at The Covey Main Stage.
