A 72-year-old Utah man died Monday, Aug. 17, after losing control of his vehicle and rolling it on Nevada State Route 305, according to a report from the Nevada State Police.
Details of the Crash
The incident occurred near the 24-mile marker in Lander County, according to the Nevada State Police. The driver, identified as Michael McCormack of Moab, Utah, was traveling in a white Toyota Tundra when the accident occurred.
According to the police report, McCormack allowed the truck to veer off the roadway and into the right dirt shoulder. The vehicle subsequently rolled over and came to rest on its left side, facing west.
Investigation and Fatality
Authorities stated that McCormack was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Due to the nature of the impact, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Incident Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
