The Skyridge boys golf team finished in second place during a four-team pre-season tournament held on Monday, Aug. 10, at the Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful, according to a Lehi Free Press report published Aug. 15.
Competing against Weber, American Fork, and Cedar Valley, the Falcons posted a team score of 289 strokes. Weber won the meet with 279 strokes, followed by American Fork in third with 291 strokes, and the Aviators in fourth with 308 strokes.
In the individual medalist race, senior Tanner Porter earned silver with a score of 68 (-4). Freshman Jraice Finau tied for fourth place with an even-par 72.
Landon Makin shot a 73 and Carter Wilson recorded a 76 to complete the counted team scores. Other varsity contributors included Brandon Young and Dylan Hymas, who each shot 78, Hayes Mauss with an 81, and Jack Jones with an 82.
The Skyridge junior varsity team won their competition with a combined score of 314, narrowly defeating American Fork's 316. Weber took third with 323, while Cedar Valley finished fourth with 372.
The winning JV squad was led by Klive Fuhriman and Bridger Warr, who both shot 77. Ty Christofferson and Hudson Murphy added 80 strokes each, Grayden Howells shot 83, Jaxson Nelson and Cooper Murphy each tallied 85, and Tamanuitoi Johnson shot 90.
In a separate event, the Falcons finished fifth at the first Region 3 tournament on Monday, Aug. 17, at the Mountain Dell Canyon Course. Lone Peak won the event with a 282 score, while Lehi finished second with 287.
Corner Canyon took third with 290, American Fork was fourth with 302, and Skyridge finished fifth with 303. Klive Fuhriman recorded the best score for the Falcons with an even-par 72, followed by Hayes Mauss with a 74, Grayden Howells with a 78, and Landon Makin and Tanner Porter with 79 each.
The Skyridge junior varsity team placed third in the Region 3 tournament, led by sophomore Beckham Bell with a score of 76.
