Road work is scheduled for 3000 W in Syracuse throughout 2026 to support new infrastructure and development. According to a notice on the city's website, the project spans from Antelope Drive to 2700 S and is intended to boost traffic flow and safety as development progresses.
The project includes several phases with estimated timelines. In January 2026, pre-construction activities will involve flaggers directing traffic and the installation of traffic controls. From January to March 2026, Phase 1 will involve local infrastructure updates and road construction. During this time, travel lanes will shift to the east side of 3000 W to allow work on the west lanes and the west half of a new roundabout. The northeast entrance to the church at 3000 W, located across from Fremont Park, will be permanently closed, though the south entrance will remain open.
Phase 2, scheduled from March to July 2026, will include the following impacts:
3000 W will be closed to northbound traffic from 2025 S to the north side of Fire Station 31 as local infrastructure, including a raised median, is added. Additionally, 3000 W will be closed to through traffic from 2700 S to Antelope Drive.
Southbound traffic will shift west to complete the eastbound lanes and the roundabout. The school drop-off and pick-up exit will be rerouted to the exit on the southwest corner of the Syracuse Arts Academy charter school parking lot.
Vehicle access to Fremont Park and Happy Tails Dog Park from 3000 W may be limited during Phase 2, though the parks will remain accessible to neighborhood pedestrians, trail users, and vehicles via the Syracuse Arts Academy pattern. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 3000 W will remain accessible via the south entrance for southbound travelers, though left turns will not be allowed when leaving the parking lot.
The infrastructure updates are designed to improve pedestrian safety, traffic flow, and neighborhood livability. Planned improvements include a new roundabout at 3000 W to benefit students at Syracuse Arts Academy and families accessing soccer fields. A 10-foot multi-use trail will also be added along the south side of Antelope and the west side of 3000 W to provide a safer route for Emigrant Trail users.
Additionally, flashing lights will be installed near the Fire Station 31 driveway to indicate when the fire department needs to stop traffic for emergency responses. While emergency services will maintain access to the surrounding neighborhood, other services will need to use alternate routes, such as 2700 S and Doral Drive.
The road work is required to install a roundabout, update natural gas fuel lines, and connect a new public roadway to new local development.
