The Utah Valley Job Fair was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, according to a report published Aug. 20. The event was designed to connect job seekers with more than 100 participating employers across various industries.
The job fair was intended to provide face-to-face access to recruiters and on-the-spot interviews to help bypass digital application backlogs. Allison Keller, Public Information Officer for the Utah Department of Workforce Services, stated that the fair is Utah’s largest community job fair.
Job searching has become increasingly frustrating for many as the labor market slows. Shailey Stubbs, a Lehi City resident, noted that applicants often spend significant time applying without receiving responses or even rejection emails.
Mark Middlebrook, Director of Outreach at Mountainland Technical College, suggested that job seekers prepare for the fair by updating their resumes and preparing a 30-second elevator pitch.
Utah's unemployment rate stands at 3.6%, with approximately 67,900 residents looking for work.
