Great Salt Lake State Park has implemented Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, which prohibit all open fires of any kind. This ban includes fires within established fire pits, charcoal grills, pellet grills, and any other ash-producing fuel.
Properly shielded gas or liquid-fueled portable camp stoves with a shut-off valve are permitted provided they are used in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren and contains no flammable vegetation.
Current park conditions indicate that day-use areas, surfaces, and campgrounds are open. The launch ramp is also open but noted as shallow, and visitors are advised to launch at their own risk.
Road conditions for the area are reported as good. There is currently no ice present at the location.
As the largest U.S. lake west of the Mississippi, the Great Salt Lake covers 1,700 square miles. Visitors should check weather forecasts before launching or boating because storms can be violent and waves can reach heights of 8 to 10 feet.
