A donation drive is being held to provide comfort to families at the Ronald McDonald House Family Room located at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, Miller Family Campus in Lehi, according to a Lehi Free Press report published August 20.
The Lehi Free Press is inviting residents throughout northern Utah County to contribute items to the drive, which will collect donations at the newspaper office through Oct. 1.
The Family Room, located on the third level of the hospital, provides a space for parents and caregivers to rest and attend to basic needs near hospitalized children. Amenities provided free of charge include a kitchen, dining area, living room, quiet meeting spaces, laundry facilities, showers, restrooms, and four overnight guest rooms.
Ronald McDonald House Mountain West has identified several needed items for the Lehi Family Room. Requested items include new toys, games, crafts, or stuffed animals, as well as new blankets. Other necessities include disposable forks and spoons, large paper plates and bowls, and individually packaged snacks such as cookies and chips.
Other requested supplies include travel-size toothpaste, deodorant, and lotion, along with hair ties, nail clippers, hairbrushes, and menstrual products. All donated items must be new to protect the health of pediatric patients and their families, and food must be unexpired and commercially packaged.
Donations can be brought to the Lehi Free Press office located at 29 N. 100 W. in Lehi. The office operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Community volunteers may also participate through the Together at the Table program to provide meals. Groups of up to eight people can prepare and serve food at the Lehi location, provided the food is store-bought, catered, or prepared in the on-site kitchen rather than a private home. Such groups are asked to provide enough food for approximately 30 individuals.
